The New Face Of Cinema: MNIK First Look Analysis!

http://www.planetsrk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22585

It took one year for the entire nation to wait with bated breath in order to let the magic unfold.

It took 3 minutes and 2 seconds for Rizwan Khan to carry us all into the awe inspiring spiritual world of his journey.

This is it. The game has changed. The tables have turned . A new frame of equations is in order.

Lets go deep inside the emotion drenched frames, to highlight the subtle nuances that made what seem like an eternity of wait worthwhile.

Beyond The Promo -I : A Child Like No Other!

Tanay Chaddha is brilliant as the turbulant Rizwan, scorned by society, apalled by his self existance and still trying to figure out the world.

The scene underplays into his Ammi giving him a simple life lesson-Do good to be good. Watch him absorb the difference between good and evil people with a mark of strained focus, trying to balance his world around the morale. This is a life defining code for him, his eyes say it all.

Scene cuts into the eyes of adult SRK. Notice how Karan uses the simple dramatisation of eyes to portray Rizwan's metamorphosis.

The young Rizwan hides his tears in his deadpan eyes. The mature Rizwan lets them out through the rains!

Indeed, Khan is a man with special challenges. In an unforgiving world.

Beyond The Promo-II: The Innocence Of Love!

I'm Rizwan Khan. I might seem a bit strange to you all, but I am intelligent. Verrrrrrrrry Smart!

Rizwan captivates us instantly with his straight to your heart smile, charming childlike innocence and his fascination with the Rubik Cube!

He believes if you do good deeds, good things will happen.

He serenades Mandira with multicoloured balloons, smiles, hugs, flying kisses, and just the promise of being there and loving her forever.

He thinks he has won the world over.

Until the day that changed everything!

Beyond The Promo-III: The Fall Of Trust, The Rise Of Humanity!

A phone call changes it all. The love of Rizwan's world turns back into the unforgiving question haunting his childhood.

Why is he different?

Notice how Karan drenches each frame with emotions alternating between negativity and positivity. There is fear, shock and distrust. There is also hope , courage and unity.

Rizwan is in a balance of moderation. Until his name tips the scales.

He realises that humanity must pay for the sins inflicted on the poor souls of 9/11.

Karan uses a flash shot of small stones in his hands to display his emotional vulnerability. This is juxtaposed with Mandira's outburst to change his outlook.

With hope in his eyes and humanity in his heart, he embarks upon a mission that defines the very purpose of his existance.

Beyond The Promo-IV: The Journey!

It is the journey that forms the film's soul. And it is the journey that Karan structures out of the basic facade of human emotions.

His name is suspicious for the authorities. But his intentions, as he declares them, are noble.

This is his journey.

What follows is a collage of the highs and lows of the spirituality of life.

There is a source. There is a destination. And it is laced with challenges at every corner opposing the foundation of its unity.

Rizwan tries . He fails. But he keeps moving on. Trials and tribulations are beyond his intellect, but meaningless to his spirit. A spirit that does not die.

Because his dreams refuse to die.

He says he can repair everything. Is it a jibe at the soul of humanity?

Karan uses a greyish texture with alienating colours. Jumpcuts and alternate panaromic/close up shots.

We have water and fire. Natural elements, cosmic chaos. All unite to pave the path for his journey.

A bond greater than limits, a strength to overcome all odds, and a belief that one person can change the world.

This is the journey to rediscover ourselves.

To transcend humanity.

To reclaim the future!

To proclaim My...no ....OUR NAME IS KHAN!
